Blog post #8
I was inspired to create this project because I enjoy learning about and investing my own money in my free time. I think this is a precious skill that could allow for much more financial freedom and the ability to have opportunities one wouldn't typically have. I don't think enough young people know about the importance of starting to invest early and how much more money a couple more years can produce. I came into my project with the goal of learning more about a different avenue of investment. Through my mentorship with Mr. Tewari, he has helped me understand this field in-depth and has even allowed me to look at real reports. These have helped me understand the whole field and the very specific part he has mastered. He shared his knowledge with me about who can invest and how they would do it. I came into this project with some prior knowledge however, leaving this project, I have learned a lot of new information along with disproving many of my preconceived notions. Mr. Tewari was an excellent mentor and very helpful and knowledgeable about any question I had. There wasn't anything that lacked in this project for me. Mr. Tewari was very receptive to any and all requests I had. If I had any questions, he would always take time to go into depth about it and make sure I understood what he was explaining or shift the focus of our meetings based on my interests. I was very happy with the project and I wouldn't change anything about it. During this project, I learned about the whole market of buying, selling, and management of real estate buildings in high ticket cities. I learned how to safely invest in the businesses that buy these buildings, and how anyone of any economic status has the ability to invest. I learned about the Townsend group and more specifically what Mr. Tewari does and how he helps clients. Hawken could partner with this group by offering a course about investment knowledge and skills. This would be very valuable for students in high school because the earlier they can get a head start on investments and the more potential money they could have access to when they decide to retire. The advice I would give to any rising seniors would be to start planning as soon as possible. The date comes very fast and adults are very busy so if you can lock in a project early, it will make the whole process a lot less stressful and will increase the likelihood you can do a project you enjoy. The most important takeaway from this project is that this form of investment is accessible to all and not enough people know about this. I would like to thank Mr. Tewari for taking time out of his very busy schedule and creating an insightful and fun project for me to cap off my senior project.
